Mei 2010 Mr. F.J.M.Douwes heeft het tot clubkampioen gebracht
van zijn geliefde schaakclub Eerbeek www.google.com  en ook won hij
het plaatselijke snelschaaktoernooi 2010 en de zomercompetitie.

In the early fifties he once won a game of chess from 'the Dutch chess-giant' Max Euwe.
